Workers claim port safety rules 'not followed'

Workers at the Freeport Container Port claim the company's own documented safety procedures were not followed prior to last week's deadly tornado strike.

Dr Myles Munroe, His Wife And Daughter Dead In Plane Crash

The crash took place yesterday and killed all nine people on board the private jet. The plane reportedly struck a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard, exploding on impact and crashing into the ground near a junkyard area.

A police on source on the island previously said two were feared dead. However, police sources later confirmed that all those on board had been killed.

Job cuts loom at Container Port

Three weeks after a deadly tornado devastated the Freeport Container Port, the facility is preparing to offer redundancy packages to dozens of employees, The Nassau Guardian learned yesterday.

The Guardian understands that the voluntary redundancy packages will be offered to 40 employees in the operations department that runs the cranes at the site.

Report says port procedures were sufficient but started too late

A "preliminary" incident report into the events surrounding the deadly tornado that killed three workers at the Freeport Container Port said the transshipment facility had sufficient extreme weather procedures in place to mitigate damage, but could not implement them all in time because they had no severe weather reports.

Work in bad weather 'may have affected time to assess tornado threat'

Dr. Myles Munroe among 9 dead in Gand Bahama plane crash

Shortly after 5pm on Sunday, November 9th a Lear jet crashed at the Grand Bahama Shipyard. It was en route from Nassau. Reports said that the plane clipped the side of a crane at the Shipyard and "exploded on impact".
